Imperial Rudder is a well-known brand in the watch industry

Imperial Rudder is a well-known brand in the watch industry, TUDOR Clair de Rose M35500-0004 and its relationship with Rolex has attracted a lot of attention. However, many people have some misunderstandings about whether the rudder adopts homemade movement. In fact, the rudder has been using outsourced motion, including tripod motion and timed motion.

First, let's take a look at Tudor's three-pin movement. In the 1950s, Tudor Royal M28500-0006 Tudor chose to purchase Fluerier movements as the source of its outsourced movements. This is because Tudor wants to keep prices under the Rolex group in order to offer watches of the same quality as Rolex but at a lower price. Initially, Tudor considered using a Rolex 1030 movement, but due to price issues, it chose to buy a 350 movement from Fluerier. TUDOR Black Bay Bronze M79250BA-0001 After improvements, Tudor named the movement 390 and used it in several smartwatches.

The Tudors then entered a period of outsourcing the ETA movement. From the mid-1960s, the Tudor Ranger M79950-0002 Tudor began using outsourced ETA movements, initially using the ETA2776 movement. The ETA2776 is a self-winding movement with a stop-second function. TUDOR Royal M28403-0009 In addition to the 2776, Tudor also used the ETA2483 movement for a period of time, and then fully entered the era of the ETA2824 movement. Tudor started using the ETA2824 movement in 1979 and has been in use for 38 years. This movement not only controls the price of the Imperial Helmsman watch, but also is stable and reliable. Although not observatory certified, but according to the player's experience, travel time accuracy is also very high. At present, Tudor heritage Black Bay 36 and 41 and Ranger series still use 2824 movement.

Next, let's talk about Tudor's chronograph movement. Tudor began to introduce the Oysterdate chronograph in 1970, which is what we now call the "cat face chronograph". Like the regular three-pin movements, Tudor's chronograph movements were entirely outsourced, from Valjoux/ETA (later acquired by ETA). The original chronograph movement used by Tudor was the Valjoux 7734, a hand-wound, horizontally clutch, CAM chronograph movement. After the Royal M28503-0008, Tudor was quickly replaced by the Valjoux 234 movement, as the 7734 movement had a lower swing frequency, while the 234 movement had a higher swing frequency and better timing accuracy. In addition, the 234 movement is a cylindrical wheel movement, which is more advanced.

1976 was the most important year in the movement to change the timer. That year, the Empire began using the new Valjoux/ ETA 7750 campaign. Although we now think of the 7750 as a naive timer, it did have some advantages at the time. First, the 7750 is a self-winding mechanism, giving the rudder the first self-winding schedule. Second, the 7750's swing frequency of 28,800 times per hour further improves the timing accuracy, thus completely replacing the motion of the previous Valjoux 234. We know that the 7750 movement is the most important feature, 6,9,12 o 'clock three timing discs. So, for a long time, Tudor (watches) used a lot of 7750s. However, it is worth noting that Tudor (the watch) does not use the 7750 movement in the popular "cat face" and "Blue Cat" timers, but instead uses the 2892 plus Dubois-de Platz timing module. That's because the Heritage Chrono Cat Face timer has a different layout than the 7750, which has a 3-o 'clock and 9-o 'clock binocular timer. The 2892 is thin enough to fit an external timing module, even thinner than the 7750 with the Dubois-Depraz timing module. Therefore, at present, one of the main options for rudder timers is this combination.

Last but not least, Tudor uses the Breitling B01 chronograph movement. Unlike all previous Tudor outsourced movements, the Breitling B01 chronograph movement is the highest grade of Tudor outsourced movements. Its grade and technical content exceed all the movements used by Tudor before. The Breitling B01 and Rolex 4130 movements are at the same level, both self-winding chronograph movements, controlled by a vertical clutch and cylindrical wheel. In the process of using the Breitling B01, the company will replace the homemade fine balance wheel and the card-free automatic gyroscope, and reduce some decorative polishing to reduce the price of the watch. Many players are surprised to learn that Tudor uses Breitling movement, but in fact, Tudor has determined the route of outsourcing movement from the beginning of the establishment of the brand. The Tudor use of the outsourcing movement was a traditional and normal situation. Although Tudor has launched its own movement, it will continue to use outsourced movements. There is even speculation that Tudor may choose another brand of movement after Breitling.

To sum up, although the movement is very important for a smart watch, it does not decide everything. Some companies that use their own brand movements have not achieved a high status.
